A rear single-storey extension that transforms a cramped kitchen and separate dining room into a single, open-plan family space. The brief was light, flow, and a kitchen that opens directly to the garden.
We built outwards into the rear garden, dropped a large flush skylight into the roof to flood the extension with overhead light, and finished with full-width aluminium bi-fold doors. The kitchen layout was redesigned around an island, with the dining and seating areas zoned by lighting and flooring transitions.
An open-plan family kitchen that feels twice the size and gets used twice as much. The bi-folds open the entire rear elevation to the garden in summer; the skylight keeps the space bright even in winter.
